What is a dakimakura?
A dakimakura is a long body pillow. In anime shops, the name often refers to a printed cover featuring a character or custom artwork. The cover and the pillow inside it are separate items, so it helps to know which one you are ordering.
What is the difference between a cover and an insert?
Check the product description and selected options before ordering. A product described as a cover or pillow case should not be assumed to include an insert.
Three choices to make before ordering
- Choose the artwork. Pick an existing design or prepare your own for a custom cover. Check both sides where a front and back are shown.
- Match the size. If you already own an insert, confirm its dimensions before choosing a cover. For a new setup, make sure an insert is available in the size you want.
- Choose the feel. Smooth, stretchy fabrics and fluffy fabrics offer different experiences. The most expensive option is not automatically the right one for you.

Can you put your own artwork on a cover?
Yes. A custom dakimakura cover lets you choose your size and fabric and upload front and back artwork. Start with the original image file and check the crop carefully, especially around faces, hands and details close to the edges.
Use artwork you created, commissioned with permission to print, or otherwise have permission to reproduce. If the image is small or blurry, check its suitability before ordering.
